The Urban Legend:
Aka Manto ( 赤マント ) was a man so outstandingly handsome that he was often stalked by people seeking a glimpse of his grandeur. To avoid such situations he eventually donned a white (or gold) mask and red cloak to hide his appearance. It seemed to work, but one of his most obsessed stalkers wasn't fooled. The ploy greatly upset the stalker. Later the handsome man was found murdered in a public restroom. He had been stabbed in the heart and then strangled to death. His brutal murder in such a lowly place made his spirit into a vengeful ghost. Aka Manto is said to knock on public restroom doors, following up with a question. The question varies depending upon the story, but it always comes down to the colors red or blue. Depending upon how you reply the consequences also vary from story to story.
Some examples are:
“Red (toilet) paper or blue (toilet) paper?”
If you reply “Red.” then you will be beheaded, covering your body in red. If you reply “Blue.” your blood will drain from your body into the toilet, leaving you cold and blueish.
“Red vest or blue vest?”
If you reply “Red.” then Aka Manto will enter your stall and stab you to death, leaving you washed in blood so it appears that you are wearing a red vest. If you answer “Blue.” he will enter your stall, pull your shirt over your head and choke you to death. He leaves your upper body exposed as cold and blueish.
“Red mask or blue mask?”
If you reply “Red.” then the skin will be fillet off your head. If you reply “Blue.” then you will asphyxiate, leaving your head blueish.
The only known ways to escape Aka Manto alive are to either push past him and run out of the bathroom immediately upon hearing the question (Don't waste time pulling your pants up or wiping, you will regret it.) or you could say the color “Yellow” instead. Yellow will cause Aka Manto to enter the stall and shove your head into the toilet with whatever you have created. Both are disgusting and humiliating, but you just may survive either way. However if you don't escape immediately or if you say things to try and confuse him then pale ghost hands will come out from your toilet and drag you down to hell.
